All talks are developed by Nicole Rennie, owner and board certified geriatric specialist in physical therapy. Talks will be customized for each target audience and conducted at a location of your choice. Our offices are also available for groups with less than 15 people.

CEX01 - Creating a Class Exercise Program

Description: This four hour course will enable participants to supervise their own class exercise in their facility. The course is designed to keep the resident's mobile and at a lower risk of failing so they can remain a resident. Cost includes handout material with pictorial examples of exercises.

Description: List and description of top 8 causes for falls in older adults. Solutions to lower fall risk for older adults. Discussion on how reducing falls decreases cost of living.

CE03 - Benefits of Strength Training

Description: “Is walking strength training?” If you answered yes to this question then may be this talk is for you. Definition of strength training including descriptions of the psychological and physical benefits of strength training in older adults. List of reasons why strength training reduces falls and decreases cost of living.

CE04 - Memory Care and Benefits of Exercise and Stength Training

Description: Specific reasons for ongoing exercise and strength training for older adults with memory issues. Including reason why those with dementia are less at risk of falling if they do not use a walker. A list of reasons why strength training reduces falls and decreases cost of living specifically for those with memory issues.

CE05 - Stroke Survivors and Benefits of Exercise and Strength Training

Description: Specific benefits of ongoing exercise and strength training for stroke survivors. There is research documenting stroke survivor’s ability to make progress up to a year past the incident. What helps them to continue to maintain and/or progress even years following their stroke?

CE06 - Parkinson's and Benefits of Exercise and Strength Training

Description: Parkinson’s can make it difficult to initiate movements or maintain balance. As Parkinson’s progresses, muscles become stiff and rigid; people move more slowly and have an increased difficulty with balance. We will explain how strength training and exercise can slow the progression of an otherwise progressive, disabling process.

CE07 - Aging and Benefits of Exercise and Strength Training

Description: As people age the body naturally loses strength. It is has been proven that people lose 8% of their muscle mass per decade starting at age 30. So that means by 80 years old people have naturally lost over 50% of their strength. We will describe why strength training is so vital to older adults and how it improves function and decreases cost of living.

CE08 - Transfer Training / Lifting Techniques
Customized for: Caregivers, family, older adults, health care professionals
Cost: free* (Fee will apply to repeated instruction for facilities)
Description: Explanation and demonstration of transfer including getting up from a chair, in/out of bed, on/off toilet, on/off the floor, car transfers, and stair climbing. Emphasis is placed on communication style and appropriate heights of equipment. Also great for companion services and home health aide companies and their employees. Lowers risk of workers compensation claims in the workplace.
